This past week Storm 14U-Plascencia hit the road for their first TCS "Colorado Sparkler" tournament.  This is a prestigious event where all the best teams in the country participate and competition is fierce.  Storm 14U-Plascencia kicked off the first day pool play with a record of 1-1-1.  Moving forward they knew they had to put the first day jitters behind them and focus on their goal of competing at their highest level in the eliminations rounds to follow.

For the eliminations rounds , Storm 14U-Plascencia was placed in the Elite Bracket where they knew they would have to be on their 'A' game. They were able to settle in and compete like they know how.   Storm 14U-Plascencia continued to advance day after day and found themselves in the semi finals where they played Utah Fastpitch.  This was their 2nd time facing each other,  their last encounter ended in a tie 8-8.  The teams competed back and forth and when the dust settled Storm 14U-Plascencia was victorious and on their way to the championship game.

Storm 14U-Plascencia knew they were in for a competitive game  against a strong opponent the TN (Tennessee) Fury.   TN Fury was able to get ahead of Storm 14U-Plascencia early in the game, however they were not going to back down.  Storm 14U-Plascencia was able to generate runs to get themselves back within reach of a win, in the end it wasn't enough and Fury outscored them 8-6.  Storm 14U-Plascencia took 2nd in the Elite Bracket!!

What a fantastic week players and coaches!!!  Congratulations on your 2nd place finish.  This as a great showing for Storm 14U-Plascencia's first time in this tournament.   They played 11 games with an overall record of  7-3-1.  The team faced some good competition and gained a lot of experience.   Job well done!!   Good luck at PGF Premier Nationals in Huntington Beach.
