It is with a heavy heart and great sadness we inform you of the passing of beloved "Coach Mo" Melissa Castillo who transitioned to heaven on Saturday July 23, 2022. Coach Mo came to the Storm Organization in 2017 were she made an immediate impact with our players and the Organization. Her love for softball and passion to be a positive mentor, coupled with her can do attitude made her a favorite in the Storm family.. Coach Mo was the type of person always willing to lend a helping hand. No matter what she was asked to do her response was always "I got you". When Storm needed a coach and her cousin Sam Salter called her the answer was without hesitation "Yes, I got you".. It was a perfect fit from the beginning she had the opportunity to share her love for the game and coach in an organization with her cousins Sam Salter, Jose Castillo, long time friend Alixis Villarin, and her brother Hector Castillo.
Melissa held numerous positions during her career as an assistant and head coach. Coach Mo began at the 12U level with her main team which is currently at the 16U age bracket (16U Armento). Throughout their softball journey together over the years the players and Coach Mo developed a special bond more that just players and coach, she would often refer to them as her kids. Mo provided them a safe stable space to grow and learn, a mentor whom they could talk about anything , encouragement that supported them to reach their highest potential and a drive to be the best they could be. The players have a deep love and gratitude for the positive impact she has left imprinted in their hearts. We are all better people for having the opportunity to have had "Coach Mo" Melissa in our lives.
Her legacy as a coach and mentor will continue to live on through her players as they continue to implement all the softball and life skills that she provided them over the years. We will all miss her vibrant smile and fun loving positive attitude. Knowing she will be working her magic from the other side. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS!!!! We send sincere condolences to the her family and friends..
