This past weekend as Storm/Family/Friends mourned the loss of one of our coaches Coach ''MO" Melissa Castillo, 14U Norman participated in the Easton Classic South Bay AST tourney in her honor. Coach Norman's team was determined to from the start with the intention of holding up the CHAMPIONSHIP trophy at the end of Sunday wearing their tribute shirt for Coach Mo.
On Saturday prior to the first game one of Norman two pitchers injured herself. This leaving responsibility on the mound to Kylie Goud for all three of their Saturday games. Kylie could have let the pressure get to her, however she did the total opposite. She put her head down and got to work pitch after pitch , game after game. Her teammates supported her with a strong showing at the plate and tough defense. The team ended Saturday 2-0-1 and earned a place in the Gold Championship Semifinal brackets for Sunday.
On Sunday Kylie Goud and Abigail Jones teamed up to hold down the circle. The team started off Sunday with a win to advance to the Championship game. 14U Norman faced off against the Strikers in a tough battle. Strikers jumped ahead 3-0 in the beginning of the game. Storm didn't let up and began to fight their way back to tie up the game 3-3. In the bottom of the last inning bases loaded, Payton Edwards hit a walk off double for the championship win. Great job to all the player who stayed together and all contributed to the success of the weekend. As intended the players and Coaches held up the trophy wearing Coach Mo's shirt to honor her career as a coach/mentor and all around wonderful person.
